Counseling and Coaching for individuals, couples and families.

Depression & Anxiety

Depression, fear, and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counseling and treatment, we are able to help you recover motivation, perspective, and joy that you once had in your life.

Trauma & PTSD

Many individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic circumstances. Anxiety, fear, and hopelessness are a few emotions that can linger with post traumatic events. We can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing through therapy.

Grief and Loss

Experiencing grief and loss can be one of life's most challenging and painful events. Therapy provides a compassionate and supportive space to navigate these complex emotions and find healing. Whether you're dealing with the death of a loved one, a significant life change, or any form of loss, our therapists are here to help you process your feelings, understand the stages of grief, and develop healthy coping mechanisms. Through guided support, you can honor your loss, find meaning, and gradually move towards a place of acceptance and renewed strength. Our goal is to help you journey through grief with compassion and resilience, fostering hope and a sense of peace.

Life Changes

Life can change in an instant and often times those life changes can affect the whole family. These sudden disruptions often leave people disoriented and lost. Many begin family therapy during a sudden disruption such as, a death in the family, job/ home loss, financials stress or struggles with aging children.

Personal Development

Personal development is a journey of self-improvement that involves enhancing various aspects of your life, including emotional well-being, self-awareness, and overall fulfillment. In therapy, personal development focuses on identifying your strengths, addressing areas for growth, and setting meaningful goals. Through personalized strategies and support, therapy helps you build resilience, improve relationships, and achieve a greater sense of purpose. Whether you're seeking to overcome obstacles, develop new skills, or simply understand yourself better, personal development therapy empowers you to create positive changes and lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.

Behavioral Therapy

Behavioral issues can significantly impact an individual's daily life and relationships, manifesting as anger, defiance, aggression, or other disruptive behaviors. Our therapy services for behavioral issues aim to uncover the underlying causes of these behaviors and provide effective strategies for change. Through a supportive and structured approach, we work with individuals and families to develop healthier coping mechanisms, improve communication, and build positive behaviors. Whether addressing childhood behavioral problems or adult behavioral patterns, our goal is to foster self-awareness, emotional regulation, and lasting behavioral change, helping you lead a more balanced and fulfilling life.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a highly effective, evidence-based form of psychotherapy that helps individuals identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. By focusing on the connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions, CBT equips clients with practical skills to manage and reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Through techniques such as cognitive restructuring, behavioral activation, and mindfulness, clients learn to challenge unhelpful thoughts, engage in positive activities, and develop healthier coping strategies, leading to lasting improvements in emotional well-being and overall quality of life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at nikki@vitalmindstherapy.com  if you cannot find an answer to your question.

A student therapist is typically someone who is studying to become a licensed therapist or counselor. They're usually enrolled in a graduate program focused on psychology/ counseling. During their training, they often work under the supervision of experienced professionals to gain hands-on experience in providing therapy or counseling services to clients. While they may still be learning and honing their skills, they offer valuable support and guidance to individuals seeking help with their mental health or emotional well-being.

Good question, an MFT-Intern has a graduate degree and is working toward licensure hours working under supervision of a seasoned Marriage and Family Therapist until hours are met.

During your first therapy session, you can expect a welcoming atmosphere where you'll have the chance to discuss your concerns openly and confidentially with your therapist. They'll likely ask questions to better understand your background, goals, and the issues you're facing. Together, you'll begin to establish a rapport and collaborate on a plan for future sessions, setting the stage for a supportive and productive therapeutic relationship.

Therapy is an opportunity to discuss/talk about issues that are important to the client,. Therapy can be about one specific problem, or it can be about multiple. It can be about present situations of things from the past that still appear to be bothersome.  Therapy is for EVERYONE. Truly everyone can benefit from sharing their feelings and emotions to an unbiased person in a safe space. Therapy is collaborative and it takes an active role from the client

People often see a therapist for a variety of reasons. Sometimes an event or situation occurs that causes an individual to seek out help, while for others, they may attend therapy because it provides a trained objective person to help them work through some issues they may have been struggling with for years.

In the initial stages of therapy, it's often recommended to attend sessions more frequently, such as once a week or bi-weekly, to establish a strong therapeutic alliance and momentum. As progress is made and goals are achieved, sessions may gradually become less frequent, transitioning to once every two weeks or even monthly. However, the frequency of therapy sessions ultimately depends on individual needs, goals, and the therapist's recommendations, which can be adjusted as therapy progresses.

A superbill is a detailed invoice that a therapist provides to a client after a therapy session. It includes comprehensive information about the therapy provided, which the client can submit to their insurance company to seek reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses.

Review Your Insurance Plan:

  • Check your insurance policy documents for coverage details related to mental health services.
  • Look for information on out-of-network provider reimbursement if your therapist is not in-network.

Contact Your Insurance Company:

  • Call the customer service number on your insurance card.
  • Ask if your plan covers out-of-network mental health services.
  • Confirm the specific requirements for reimbursement (e.g., necessary documentation, coverage limits, deductible information).

Verify Reimbursement Rates:

  • Inquire about the reimbursement rate for out-of-network services.
  • Ask if there are any caps or limits on the number of sessions covered annually.

Pre-Authorization:

  • Some insurance plans require pre-authorization for mental health services. Confirm if this is needed for your plan.

Submit the Superbill:

  • After receiving the superbill from your therapist, submit it to your insurance company as instructed (usually through mail, email, or an online portal).
